“It won’t work!”

These were the words my friend Anders uttered to me when I first shared the idea for my Cheerful Giver project. WOW! Thanks Anders, NOT.
He went on to say why, and although we didn’t go into the subject in great depth, it was clear he felt I may be wasting my time.
Why this rocked me was because Anders is one of my three longest standing best friends. We’ve been friends for over 50 years, and I think the world of him. He’s not just a very good man and a highly successful businessman, but a man who has also contributed greatly by helping others who find themselves in all kinds of difficult circumstances, not just in Australia but across the world. He’s also been a paraplegic most of his adult life. It would be fair to say I regard his opinion on anything very highly. As I write this, it just occurred to me that Anders has always been one of the most generous people I know, a perfect example of “A Cheerful Giver”.
So, did he dissuade me? Not in the least. I took on board what he said and then thought about it for about 5 minutes (that’s what I do sometimes) and then decided I would prove him wrong. I am not a person who is going to ever die wondering, certainly where ever possible.
At 77, The Cheerful Giver will likely be my last serious project and to be brutally honest, I really don’t care if it doesn’t reach any great heights. It’s not going to cost me a lot to give it a go and I’m genuinely confident that in time, it may become something great and in the process, achieve a lot of good!
I hope you will join me on the journey, and that you and many others will be blessed for having done so.
Cheers and go well!
